The game was in development for multiple years, and Ubisoft has stated that it is moving the series "in a new direction". The game features singleplayer and up to four-player co-op, along with a 4v4 PvP mode called " Ghost War", that had a beta in September 2017 and released fully in October 2017. At the show, it won 25 awards from the media. The reveal displayed a mission pitting the players against "White Hat" at his Bolivian drug lab. Ghost Recon Wildlands was announced at E3 2015 to a crowd of nearly 52,000. Wildlands was developed by Ubisoft Paris in collaboration with several other studios.
